Join us for WCD's LATAM Regional Institute that brings together board members, business leaders and other experts for meaningful conversations about important issues in the LATAM region and across the world such as the economic and geopolitical environment (incl. trade and tariffs), AI/GenAI/new tech innovation and risk, cybersecurity, sustainability and the energy transition, investment trends in the region, among many others.

Public policy specialist, former Minister of Production. Currently President of Mujeres Cuidadoras and member of the board of different companies and non-profits. She studied economics at Universidad del Pacífico and a Master in Public Administration at Harvard University.

As Minister of Production she implemented a major reform in the industrial fishing of anchovy and an emergency program to stimulate economic activity of SMEs in the context of the 2008/2009 international crisis. During six years she was President of the Fisheries National Association of Perú. She has been President of IPAE and COP of the USAID / Facilitando Comercio Project, which supported Peru and other Andean region countries in trade capacity building. She has held various executive and advisory positions in public sector institutions and has been consultant to USAID, World Bank, BID, PNUD and GIZ.

Maria Paula Duque

In her previous experience she was Senior Vice-President of Strategic Relations and Chief Customer Experience in Avianca Holdings. Responsible for building and developing meaningful relations with global stakeholders as well as designing the experience and the customer service for Avianca. Ms. Duque is lawyer from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá and holds an MBA from Inalde Business School. Also holds a Communications Management MSc from Strathclyde University in England. She worked in Microsoft Colombia for more than 10 years, as Public Sector Director and Business Segment Director. She has wide experience in regulations for Telecommunications, as she worked in companies such as Telecom, ETB, EPM and performed as Communications’ Vice minister in Colombia. Member of different boards such as Seguros Bolivar, Credibanco,. Promigas and Aval Valor Compartido.

Ms. Dutra is the Chief Executive Officer of Mandala Global Advisors LLC, a global board and management advisory company for accelerating business growth through innovation and globalization and turn around strategies which she founded in 2013. She was previously the Chief Executive Officer of The Executives’ Club of Chicago, a world-class senior executives organization focused on the development, innovation and networking of current and future business and community leaders from 2014 until her retirement in 2018. From 2007 to 2013, she was a Proxy Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Korn Ferry Consulting.

Elena Estavillo is the founder and CEO of Centro-i for the Society of the Future, an independent think tank advocating for an ethical, responsible, and inclusive technological future. Former Commissioner at the Mexican regulator for telecommunications and broadcasting, she is a recognized global expert on AI ethics, digital governance, and gender equality in tech. She led UNESCO’s AI Readiness Assessment in Mexico and has been part of the Expert Group for CSW. A finalist in the Woman in AI of the Year award (2023) and recognized as ITU Gender Trendsetter. She is a 2023 Harvard ALI Fellow with a PhD in Economics from the University of Paris.

Luz Elena Jurado Soto

Luz Elena Jurado is a pioneering leader in the financial sector and the automotive industry, with 30 years of experience. She is a business administrator with a master’s degree from IPADE Business School. She was recognized as a Forbes Powerful Woman in 2020 and 2021 and by Expansión in 2020.
She has held key positions at Volvo Group, serving as General Director of Volvo Financial Services, Volvo Trucks México, and Volvo Trucks & Buses Argentina.
After nearly four years in Buenos Aires, she returned to Mexico in 2025 with two main goals. The first is to be part of the Executive Committee responsible for building the new Volvo Group plant in Monterrey, a $700 million investment that will enable the production of 20,000 trucks annually starting in the second half of 2026.
The second is to share her insights and experiences through speaking engagements, helping both women and men in leadership roles overcome challenges and navigate unexpected turns in their professional journeys in an increasingly complex world.

Beatriz has thirty five years of professional experience in international trade, public policy and regulatory matters; acquired through her practice in the public, private, and academic sectors.
She is a partner at SAI Law & Economics, which she rejoined in 2013 as Head of the International Trade and Foreign Investment, as well as the Regulatory and Public Policy Practice teams. Position she previously held in the firm from 1999 to 2006.
Beatriz served as Undersecretary for Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Economy between 2006 and 2011. She also served in the same Ministry as Director of Legal Analysis at the Office in charge of negotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement between 1990 and 1992. Her public sector experience also includes five years of service at the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1983 to 1988.

Barbara Mair

Barbara Mair has been a partner at Smart Force Mexico since 2019 and previously served as CEO of Universidades Aliat from 2012 to 2015. Earlier, she was a partner at Medida y Compas S.C. from 2003 to 2010 and was general manager at HP (2002-2003) and Compaq (1995-2002). She has founded several tech companies in Mexico, most of which she has sold successfully. Mair has been on various boards since 2001, including Laureate Education, Banco del Bajío and other private and not-for-profit companies. She holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and a Master of Technology in Education from the University of British Columbia and earned a Certificate of Cybersecurity Oversight from Carnegie Mellon University.

Lourdes Melgar, Ph.D., is an academic and strategic advisor recognised for her energy, sustainability and governance expertise. As former Under-Secretary for Electricity and Deputy Secretary for Hydrocarbons, she played a key role in designing, negotiating, and implementing Mexico’s 2013 Energy Reform. Previously, as a career diplomat, she held various positions in Mexico’s Foreign Service and at the Secretariat of Energy. She is a Board member of Banco Santander Mexico S.A, CEMEX, S.A.B de C.V. and Smurfit Westrock plc. She also sits on the advisory board of the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet, the Natural Resources Governance Institute, Chapter Zero Mexico. She is a trustee at Mount Holyoke College. Dr. Melgar holds a Ph.D. from MIT, where she is currently a Research Affiliate at the Center for Collective intelligence.

María José Van Morlegan is an experienced C-suite senior executive and board director recognized at national level for her accomplishments in the corporate, public and banking sectors. She has over 25 years of executive leadership experience at large, public companies. At Banco Macro, she served in several roles including President´s advisor and Chief Legal Officer, where she oversaw the markets (P&L for the company), international operations, business integration activities, government relations and was responsible for the transformation efforts for Macro. Prior to Banco Macro, she served as Chief Legal Director for the Sustainability Fund of Argentina, which represents a stated – owned 36 billion pension fund, where she led the private and sovereign restructuring debts transaction team.

Alejandra Naughton

Alejandra Naughton is a certified corporate director (CDC) by Harvard University. She is an economist who graduated from the University of Buenos Aires and completed a CFO Executive Program at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She also received training at the Bank of England, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and the International Monetary Fund.
She is currently a board member of Banco Supervielle, Invertir Online, Supervielle Seguros, and an independent director at Holcim Argentina.

At Grupo Supervielle, she served as CFO from 2011 to 2020, leading the execution of its initial public offering (IPO) in 2016 and its follow-on offering in 2017, both in the local market (BYMA) and on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Mary Beth Vitale is CEO and Principal for Pellera, LLC., a consulting firm that provides board training in cyber security and governance education to public, private and large not-for-profit firms.

Ms. Vitale currently serves on Luna Innovations (NASDAQ: LUNA) and G.E.H.A., a 501C9 VEBA association board. Formerly, she served on the board of Pareteum (TEUM) where she served as Chair of the board, Chair of Nominating and Governance. She was also a member of the Audit, Compensation and Strategy committees. She restructured the company and sold it in 2022.

She also served on the board CoBiz Financial, a $3.8 Billion publicly traded financial that was sold in 2018. She was Chair of Nominating and Governance and Risk and Audit committee.

Maria Francisca Yañez

As chair of the AI and Data Committee at Coca Cola Andina, she leads innovative initiatives. Francisca is also a member of ICARE’s Innovation Circle and Women Corporate Directors. She imparts her expertise through executive programs at the Institute of Directors of Chile and the UC Corporate Governance Center. Formerly, as National Technology Officer for Microsoft in Latin America, she guided pivotal AI and cybersecurity projects. Francisca has represented Chile at international forums such as the OECD, UN, APEC, and WHO. Recognized as a Young Leader in 2014 and Woman Leader in 2023 by El Mercurio, she finds the best inspiration in her family, with her husband Javier and their two children.
