October 31, 2023 — FRANKFURT — Women Corporate Directors (WCD) hosted the 2023 Europe Regional Institute in Frankfurt, Germany, on October 26 and 27, gathering keynote speakers, panelists, and attendees for a two-day conference.

The event, held at KPMG AG Wirtschaftspruefungsgesellschaft The Squaire, focused on Female Leaders Shaping Resilience in a Polycrisis. Topics of discussion spanned corporate governance issues, including ESG, digitalisation, and geopolitical considerations in the boardroom. The two-day conference was attended by over 60 attendees, including WCD members from around the globe.

Approximately 35 speakers led discussions at the two-day institute, including keynotes Katrin Suder, Former State Secretary, Ministry of Defence Germany, Board Member and Senior Advisor; Eva Lindström, Member of the European Court of Auditors; and a host of other renowned leaders.

The institute’s agenda included various sessions, such as AI in the Boardroom, Leadership in Crisis Times, and a dinner that hosted a topic on How to Leverage ESG in the Boardroom. WCD’s CEO and speaker at the institute, Jennifer Reynolds, feels that shaping resilience is needed now more than ever.

Having the opportunity to convene over timely topics in the boardroom is of utmost importance given today’s geopolitical concerns and considerations. Meeting to discuss topics such as ESG and digitalisation allows for an open forum for today’s board leaders in the region to discuss best practices and to hear from peers and industry leaders on these issues.

Angelika Huber-Strasser, Regional Head South, KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft stated hosting the institute was timely for the region’s board leaders.

In these two days, we discussed how female leaders can guide their companies through the polycrises and take into consideration the geopolitical disruption and the digital and ESG transformation. One factor to stay resilient in these VUCA times are networks like WCD. It is great to have all these diverse minds and experiences in this event.
