Last month, the Women Corporate Directors (WCD) Kenya Chapter hosted its second annual golf tournament at the Karen Country Club in Nairobi, Kenya. The event brought together 140 golfers, with an additional 20 people in attendance for the dinner and awarding of prizes, with many participating in the purple and white dress code.

Noteworthy global and local organizations, including KPMG, WCD’s Global Lead Sponsor, and local champions Safaricom, CIC Insurance, and Development Bank of Kenya, joined hands in sponsorship, affirming their dedication to the event’s mission.

A WCD Kenya chapter member described the event as a vital networking occasion, uniting golfers, non-golfers, women corporate directors, and their supporters. The golf tournament fosters invaluable connections and dialogues that extend beyond the golf course, serving as a testament to the power of networking.

All proceeds from the golf tournament were directed towards the advancement of visionary corporate governance, aligning seamlessly with WCD’s mission. Chapter members present at the event emphasized the Chapter’s commitment to equipping women for board service and fostering a dynamic network for idea exchange and mutual support.

We try to prepare women to be ready for service on boards, and we also build our network, where we can exchange ideas and experiences, and just generally help each other as we go along this journey of serving on boards.

The event boasted much success for WCD’s Kenya chapter, which started in 2015, growing to over 20 members, all of whom are women serving on boards.
